Brief Biographical Sketch:

Karinne is a scientist, educator, and storyteller from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Through Splash at Yale, she created and co-led a total of eight novice birding classes, reaching 178 middle and high school students in the Greater New Haven area. She is also the founder and executive director of Taking Flight, an educational initiative that aims to inspire future climate leaders through birding. Taking Flight harnesses multimedia approaches to capture the diverse ornithological perspectives of students, scientists, teachers, artists, photographers, and architects. Karinne plans to pursue an academic career in the field of avian migration and strives to strengthen science communication efforts worldwide.
