Brief Biographical Sketch:

I've wanted to be an archaeologist ever since I was a kid, and I've participated and/or supervised six archaeological excavations over the past six years. I'm particularly interested in the archaeology of religion, landscapes, and human evolution. I was always disappointed that there were no classes that taught about archaeology and ancient cultures and peoples, so I'm hoping to teach people and get them excited about the past!

S28: Neanderthals and Humans: A Who's Who of Human Evolution in Rainstorm Spring 2020 (May. 30 - 31, 2020)
When we think of the human race, we often consider ourselves to be the only creatures like us on the planet. And while this may be true today, there was a brief period of time, not too long ago, where humans coexisted with another sentient hominin: the Neanderthal. This class will examine the unique characteristics of humans and Neanderthals, and explore how the two groups may have interacted, the impacts they had on one another, and the legacy of our hominin cousins today.
