H718: Protest Medicine and Global Health in Rainstorm Spring 2021 (May. 15 - 16, 2021)
In the wake of civil unrest and important social equity movements, we turn our attention to the history and future of protest medicine, and the brave street medics who protect the health of justice advocates. In this class, we will cover what protest or riot medicine is, the role of political unrest on public health, and ways to support street medics. This class includes discussions of harsh treatment of protesters in the United States and abroad, so please carefully consider your sensitivity to violence or graphic images before enrolling. MIT Global Health Alliance is an undergraduate organization dedicated to promoting global health and health equity.
