Have you ever wondered why $$e$$ shows up so often in math and science? For example, why does $$e^{ix} = \cos(x) + i \sin(x)$$ (leading to the beautiful equation $$e^{i \pi} = -1$$)? Or why does $$\frac{d}{dx}e^x = e^x$$? In this lecture style class we will answer all of these questions (and derive the two aforementioned equations!) by exploring what $$e^x$$ intuitively and visually does, instead of going through a complicated proof using Taylor series or difficult limits. After this course, you will be able to look at any occasion of $$e$$ in math /science and be able to have an intuitive understanding of why it shows up there!
