A730: Literacy in the Making in Rainstorm Spring 2021 (May. 15 - 16, 2021)
“We are all storytellers. We all live in a network of stories. There isn’t a stronger connection between people than storytelling.” ~Jimmy Neil Smith, Director of the International Storytelling Center We are all storytellers, yet we don’t often have the opportunity to share our understanding of the stories of others. Empathy for others, particularly in today’s world, is essential. In this hands-on interactive session, you will explore past and present through a young child’s eyes and craft a project that expresses your unique understanding of what that means. Materials: 5 sheets of paper (printer or construction); scissors, tape

A731: Poetry in the Making in Rainstorm Spring 2021 (May. 15 - 16, 2021)
Poetry in the Making Join us for a hands-on making adventure where you will explore the meaning of a poem. So often we simply talk about poems and miss the opportunity to delve more deeply into our personal interpretations. In this session, we will share a poem about dignity, obstacles, and what it means to be human, and give you a chance to express your understanding by creating a multi-dimensional artifact. Materials: 5 sheets of paper (printer or construction) Yarn or string Tape
